1. Introduction

ERUCK TECHNOLOGIES INC., operating as YongeRide ("YongeRide", "we", "us", or "our"), operates a rideshare platform connecting riders with independent driver partners in the Greater Toronto Area. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our mobile applications, website, and related services (collectively, the "Platform").

By accessing or using the Platform, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services. This policy is governed by the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Ontario privacy legislation.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information to provide and improve our services:

  • Account Information: Your name, email address, phone number, profile photo, and preferred language when you create a YongeRide account.
  • Location Data: Real-time GPS location from your device while the app is in use, including pickup and dropoff coordinates, trip routes, and driver location during active trips.
  • Payment Information: Payment method details (credit/debit card numbers, billing address) processed securely through our third-party payment processors (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • Trip Data: Pickup and dropoff locations, trip duration, distance travelled, fare amounts, driver and rider ratings, and trip timestamps.
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, IP address, mobile network information, and app version.
  • Communications: Messages exchanged between riders and drivers through the in-app messaging feature, and communications with our support team.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • To provide, operate, and improve the rideshare platform, including matching riders with drivers, calculating fares, processing payments, and providing trip receipts.
  • To ensure safety and security, including verifying driver identities, conducting background checks, monitoring trips in real-time, and enabling trip-sharing with trusted contacts.
  • To communicate with you, including sending trip updates, receipts, service announcements, and responding to support requests.
  • To personalize your experience, including displaying content in your preferred language and remembering your favourite locations.
  • To comply with legal obligations, including regulatory requirements, tax reporting, law enforcement requests, and dispute resolution.

4. How We Share Your Information

We share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • With Drivers/Riders: When a trip is matched, riders and drivers see each other's first name, profile photo, vehicle details (for drivers), real-time location, and rating. Phone numbers are masked through the app.
  • With Service Providers: We share data with third-party providers who perform services on our behalf, including payment processing (Stripe), map services, cloud hosting, and customer support tools. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.
  • With Trusted Contacts: When you use trip-sharing features, your chosen contacts receive your real-time location, trip details, driver information, and estimated time of arrival.
  • As Required by Law: We may disclose your information when required by law, court order, or government regulation, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

5. Location Data

Location data is essential to our service. We collect your precise GPS location while the app is open and during active trips. For drivers, location is collected while they are online and available for rides. We use this data to match rides, provide navigation, calculate fares, and monitor trip safety.

You may disable location services through your device settings, but this will prevent you from using core features of the Platform, including requesting or completing rides.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Under PIPEDA and applicable law, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: You may request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
  • Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to our legal obligations to retain certain records (such as trip history for tax and safety purposes).
  • Withdrawal of Consent: You may withdraw your consent to certain data processing activities, though this may limit your ability to use the Platform.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, secure authentication, access controls, and regular security assessments.

While we take reasonable precautions, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data but are committed to protecting it to the best of our ability.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide our services. After account deletion, we may retain certain data for a limited period to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and maintain safety records as required by transportation regulations.

9. Children's Privacy

YongeRide is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
